Osoyoos sockeye: looks like no opening this year

Almost certain to be no opening for Okanagan sockeye this year as returns are low. Typically by July 15, half the Okanagan run has crossed Wells Dam, and to date we have only 15,500 fish. The ONA was mentioning this likelihood a couple weeks back and it appears to be coming true. Food fishery will happen but their commercial venture will be a no go this year as well. Hopefully the Americans will keep their part of the river closed and we'll get some spawners.

The link shows fish counts across the various Columbia dams. Might have to refresh it to get the daily update.

Almost like they are being transparent and actually ENCOURAGING people to fish. Bizarre.

Any more insight on osoyoos sock fishery? Im heading up this weekend for 2 weeks and love this fishery with the kids but I dont want to drag riggers/rods/gear up if theres likely no opening...
