I've been fishing in Nootka Sound for a number of years and now have added crabbing and prawning. Anyone willing to share som good spots?

Well the crabbing... it will probably be slow! Usually is! Concentrate you efforts in the above areas.

The prawning could be anywhere from excellent to poor. A lot of that has to do with the commercials.

Which is probably why you're not getting much of a response... No body really knows! :(

But, the fishing should be really good this year! :D

Thanks for the info Charlie. Sounds like you have pretty good knowledge on Nootka. I've got two trips planned this year. One the first week of July and the second the last week of July. Hopefully the Springs will be there or at least an improvement on last year. I'll leave the prawn and crab traps home. That was the advise I got last year.

Well, personally? I would do the last week of July and about the 2nd week of August! :)

I agree with Charlie on weeks he recommends for your trip - pretty much the prime time for springs.

I don't go for crab but for prawns I usually soak at the northwest end of Bligh Island (just opposite Tuta marina/campsite)at 300' depth...I also see floats in front of Hoiss Point lodge occassionally but more likely for crabs as I don't think its deep enough for prawns but may be wrong.

I'd still take the prawn traps!

Ok, I'll do that. I'll let you know how I do.
