We are heading to the area on Monday. If we do not catch anything to brag about this time the wives may make us take up golf. Any updates from the area?

Hey SeaWolf, I understand that the area is quite reverend.... and that most people that can pilot a 16 footer and make it through Nahmint Bay without your friend frying his earring aids , would be successful at this time of year............. SS

Just got back from a couple of days fishing from Seabeam, turned out to be one of the better trips I have had. It was great fishing we fished at 7 mile and got 19 keepers and I lost count of how many wild coho we released. The coho were a good size 7-8 lbs and were being caught mostly between 50 and 100 ft using any kind of light colored hoochies, springs were below a 100ft caught with the same gear. No really big fish but it was sure fun anyway. Will post a couple of photos when possible.

Hey Osama, thanks for the update, I am thinking of coming up on Tues. and Weds. Any size to the salmon and how deep are you fishing. I was up last week and while the bite was on good at 7 mile, they were somewhat smaller than I expected.:( Thanks, SS

SS -
Fish are between 8-20lbs. Not huge, but not anything like what was out at 7 mile last weekend. I fished there for about 45 minutes and caught 2 around 8lbs and 6 around 45-60cm so I left.
Inshore was a bit tougher last weekend than it had been, but has turned back on. Swale has been great on chovies, Kirbys fish have a lot of needlefish in them so whatever your favourite imitation is will be effective. Was head to head with anchovies yesterday.
Surf line is on as well.
Good depths seemed to be 70 - 90 feet for me.
Have fun, hope to see you on the water, I'll be out both of those days. Call on 68.

Hey all,
Well just returned from bamfield. The trip started a little shaky with some kicker motor problems, but as luck would have it breakers marine is a suzuki dealer and had just the right part for me.
Well back to the fishing, we had all our luck at kirby and edward king on mostly anchovies and green spoons various patterns. Our depth that we hooked most fish was between 35 and 45 feet. Lost a couple in the 18-20 pound range but managed to get a bunch of feeders in the 10-14 pound range along with a few coho.Prawning was pretty ****ty but I dont know the secret spots yet. Overall it was pretty good with at least a handfull of fish during the morning and night tide change. Plus as an added bonus we got to see a pod of gray whales.
Cheers

Left Nanaimo at 4:00 Sunday with 3 friends, 2 who had never caught a salmon before. Arrived at Kirby at about 6:45. Slow for the first 1/2 hour, then hooked and lost 3 in 10 minutes . The action died off so we headed over to Swale at about 8:30. By 11 we had 6 in the boat, lost 2, released 1 and had 3 other solid hits. 20, 18, 12, 12, 10, 10. Anchovy with 6' leader behind green-glow flasher.
Don't get too excited...between the other 4-5 boats at Swale, we only saw a couple fish caught.

Rabbi!
You get a bloody cell phone yet?
2 days ago had to wander around in the Sound due to weather. Nada at Howard's, but more than enough fish at Pill. Mostly Teener's, but a few into the 20's. All on rubber and spoons. Thought you'd likely be about somewhere, but didn't know how to get ahold of you...
So, if you did get a cell, gimme a shout at the Hacienda tonight (aYup - a Day OFF!!). If not, I'll try 68 next time - what's your radio handle??
Cheers,

Fished Pill on Sunday. Got an easy limit of feeder springs in a couple of hours. Landed 10 fish in total. All on Chovies at around 100'. Purple haze flashers and purple haze teaser heads with a 6' leader. Lots of action, can't wait till next weekend.;)

Fished Pill for a while Sunday morning kept two 10lb chinooks and released a couple of undersized. One was on bait the other a spoon at 70 and 90 feet. Tried Kirby after supper but too windy. Was back at Kirby at 5am this morning got one teenager and that was it. Moved out to 7 mile but it was pretty bumpy and kelp infested so we moved back into Beal where we had lots of hits but couldn't get anything to stick. The only lure that seemed to work for us was the watermelon spoon. At this point the kicker decided that it was time for a new impeller so we had to call it quits.

Any of you guys tried the brushed nickel (flat) finish coyote or gypsy spoon. I only had one last year and caught a few fish then lost it when a seal grabbed our fish? 6 ft. leader seemed to be the trick.

Hey Gary, I don't have it anymore. Email it to me or stay on the Gov dock on the west side and I'll find you. Gonna be at least one other board member I know of down there.
Fishing has been spectacular inside. Limits all week...
See ya.
Oh yeah, Nog - Just call for Osama. I just can't get into a cell phone these days. Haven't been to "town" since I got here!

Head out of the harbor, go straight across through Satellite Passage, turn left, stay to the right of the little island and just keep going until you see the boats fishing at Kirby Pt.

Back from bamfield, Easy limits attained for all days out there, tues to thursday. Started out at the wall on tuesday, picked up two about 15 lbs right away.100 ft with white hoochie, short leader 20 inch. This seemed to be the ticket for the trip. Went to cree the next morning and had good action on the exact same set up, it slowed down fairly quick. we called it a day around ten.On our last day we fished kirby with a lot of other boats, tomic spoons with no flasher worked right away, and of course the white hoochie coaught the rest.It was nice to pick and choose what fish you were going to keep. Enjoy the weekend guys

Hey Guys.
I went out sunday morning for the day....Started late with the lines in the water at pill by 7. Within the first 5 minutes had our first spring of the day on which was 16lbs. After that it died right off and we heard there was a nice bite at diplock so we ran across and fished the tide change during that 2 hour period we landed 3 more springs which were between 16 and our biggest 22lbs. Managed to see a big hump back passing haggards cove on the way home aswell...

The moon has shifted all the inshore fish around a fair bit. Beale was a lot different today than the last week.
Edward King was great today on the other hand.
Heading offshore tommorrow...
Shleemo, where's your report???

Offshore was great as always. Limits of springs and halis.
Found a couple of big schools of coho closer in and topped up the cooler with some hatcheries.
Fished the wall yesterday with a buddy and I caught a 30 and a 35. He got a 27 and a 23.
