Get there while you can "pan fries for everyone". Just got a report from Roper, limited out with 3 and 4 pounder's. Sooke Bluffs seamed to be the hotspot for Rope, fish deep real deep. If you think your to deep go deeper!! This exciting fishery is on for a short time, so get out there and get tome Reel Excitment!

What a joke. The same 62 cm limit should apply in all areas, not just the Georgia Strait. Let the poor little buggers grow a bit, for cryin' out loud.

Nah there not all small, some nice ones in the 12 pound range have been dragged from the depths in whirl bay. We are'nt all animals hunting for a grilse pan fry cookout. All in all some of the best winter spring fishing yet!

whats the difference between catching them when theyre 4 pounds or fully mature? seems like a mature fish is more rare, fighting through seals predation, commercial nets etc.?

Just returned from a couple hours on the south island chuck. Was pretty good with the springs ranging from shakes up to ten pounds.
Thought I would drop the trout spinning rod for a good chuckle and it ended up being the hot rod. Mainlined a 10 or so pounder on it, makes a 5 feel like a 20!
