Sitting here trying to catch up on all the threads I missed while on vacation. Saw the one that wolf posted for a drink at 4 mile. Sorry I missed out on that one but it got me thinkin about having a mid island gathering for those of us not "down south" (of course everyone is welcome!) How about a meet and greet at Muddy Waters on Feb. 25th. Tip a few and tell some lies. Any interest?

Would you consider Parksville for those coming down Island as a central meeting spot???????? By the way great idea!!!!!!

Pardon an old guy for asking , but where is "Muddy Waters ?"
Don't go far to bars anymore and have lost touch with the names of them.

Muddy Waters is at the Nanaimo Ferry Terminal.
Since I live in Chemainus, Nanaimo is already a bit of a haul for me. Just trying to find some neutral ground. Would consider something closer off the Bypass. Any suggestions? Jingle Pot Pub?

Or anything available in north Nanaimo around Home Depot?

Just trying to figure out how to get the wife to drive me there and then hang around for awhile, don't want to drive home to Crofton from there and have the Kings Cowboy's lay on to me at this stage of the game .

Al - Since your just next door in Croften, I could probably set up a car pool.
"Kings Cowboys"?????

Once I get a feel for where the interested people are coming from we can pick a location central for all.

"Kings Cowboys" was an old Army term for the RCMP back in the '60's they were also referred to as "yellow striped Bat Masterson bastards", Military Police were known as "snow drops" because of their white helmets.
Car Pool might work, need to look into a date then, am away shortly to Mexico on holidays.

Well you learn something new everyday!

I had arbitrarily picked Feb 25th just so it gave us some time to set something up. For those interested, let me know where your coming from as we still need to pick a central location for the majority.

After re-reading reel easy's post, I think I mis-interpreted him. If I've got it right, he's going to be in Nanaimo that night because his wife's visiting his sister yet he's coming from Duncan area.
Therefore, since I now see interest from the north, lets leave the meeting spot at Muddy Waters, which is easy to find because its right at the Nanaimo Ferry Terminal. 7:00 PM
Bring a picture of your boats so I know who to look out for on the water.

Real easy - I'll take a ride with you and the wife if you don't mind detouring through Chemainus to pick me up.

Just to clarify my confusion, Muddy Waters sounds good, wife could drive, visit her sister, then pick us up later. We could pick up someone on the way, sounds like we need a van, we have car and truck so not big capacity. Option 2, eat lots, drink less or meet at Tim Hortons.
