Lake fishing in the summer months

Well its the time of year that we have time to fish the lakes.But whats the trick to catching fish this month.Seems really slow in Nanaimo.Need some advice! I m a new angler so bring on the hints

Try fishing during the "magic hours" which is a couple of hours before dawn and dusk. You may also try some night fishing with black leech flies. During a hot day try fishing deep banks and cut-offs. Good luck.
