View Full Version : Cautious Optimism

Well Now... I see that the owners of this site finally had enough of the trantrums and drivel being ignorantly posted on this site from the keyboards of a few immature bad actors. Also recognize the addition of a couple new moderators. Well Done Gentz!

This used to be a [u]very</u> good place to seek advice, perhaps give a little, and generally chat about all things fishing. Lately, the garbage was not only nauseating, but served well to get some folks' dander up and to drive a fair number of those with good intentions away. I know that for myself, I ended up avoiding even checking in here even briefly, simply because I didn't like the way that such personal slurs and attacks were being dealt with (not that is). No slur on Bill, he is a busy fellow, and like many, expected the users here to display at least some intellect, decency and sense of respect for their fellow anglers. Unfortunately in this day and age, the ill-mannered displays of the few can take away much from a decent site, something that had unfortunately become all to frequent here.

So Gentlemen, KUDOS for these efforts. Initially, it will likely be a bit of an uphill struggle, for these small minds can be devious and tenacious in their twisted little ways. But hold the course, and I'm certain you can and will bring this site back the respect it once commanded! I look forward to once again checking in from time to time, and sharing respectfully with others as we once did. And indeed wish you the VERY Best of Luck with that pursuit!!

Cheers,
Nog

Thank you IronNoggin for presenting a view that so many participants share, and furthering this with a well-founded optimism.

I have spoken to a number of regulars to this forum in recent days, and I must say that I both honored and impressed by the level of commitment and unselfishness individuals have portrayed in helping to maintain the integrity of the board, so that valuable contributors such as you continue to frequent these pages. A big thanks goes out to all of you who have stepped-up to make this better resource for the angling community to share.

As you have mentioned, new moderators have been added to the forum. They are welcome additions. New moderators may continue to be added by recommendation of standing members. Special thanks ‘in advance’ to Totally Tyee and MyEscape for their on-going efforts and contributions as moderators.

Best of luck on the water!

Actually, I did the topic and specific post deletes yesterday. But I'm sure glad to have some help on here with the moderating. Gets awfully busy trying to read absolutely everything that is posted here.
Anyways, keep the posts to fishing and avoid retaliating to shots and flames and all will be well.

well nog you beat me to the punch, was gonna make this thread last nite but the computer just wasnt cooperating. i cant stress enoguh the benefits of using such a resource, and the thanks i give to those who give accurate and informative information (especially nog, wolf, and blueorca). recieving such up to date reports are difficult other then by word of mouth. to the mods- great work so far and keep it up! there is no need for this place to turn into a verbal garbage dump as it had. to those who complain and insult- go fishing and then come talk about it!

Would hate to see this forum go. I like it a lot more than FishBC. Way more local and it doesnt have 20 million members so you dont have to go back ten pages when looking for a post thats a day or two old. Not as many group hugs and sheep fetishes here either(jk).

GO NUCKS!!!

I join the ranks in saying that I would also miss this forum. I find it is extremely informative, up to date with what's going on out there and the range of topics endless.

I'll definitely put my two bits in for support for this forum. I've been here since about 2002 and its always been a great source of entertainment and information for me. In its current form I definitely prefer it to "the competition" in that:

- SFBC is more report\condition\tip focussed, and based on my experiences on the same day in the same area, the reports usually are very accurate.

- SFBC isn't dominated by a few very opinionated individuals whose words, based on the number of their posts, are considered gospel.

- SFBC is focussed on my angling preferences which are anadramous species (tidal and fresh) and halibut. The individuals offering advice on these topics seem well qualified to do so, and their advice usually is borne out in my personal experience as well.

- I live on Vancouver Island. (Thank god!)

- The folks here are down to earth, friendly and very helpful.

I found some of the more infamous posts more entertaining than offensive but I guess I've got thicker skin than a lot of members.

Anyway, is a pleasure to be here, keep up the good work, and here's to tight lines for all of you!

Gooey.

i would like to express my gradatude to this site as well, i was using another site but ended up being banned because i had different opinion than the moderater, better off, this site had alot of mainland stuff and being on the rock the info just was not for me,after reading some of the posts on this site i was starting to see why there are so many fights on the rivers over there, any how , i like what goes on on this site other than some juvenile crap that gets real old real fast, but as life throws you a curve ball, mine is going to make a big change, it looks like there might be a move to alberta in the near future, so i will look forward to reading about all the great winter stealhead fishing, and letting you guys know about the great trout fishing, but until that happens i will still be getting my time on the river in . remember ensure the future
