Well... I have finally made decision to replace my old 2 stroke johnson kicker.

Tired of the unreliability, but do like how easy it is to fix. What I want to know is an opinion. Yamaha 9.9/8hp High Thrust vs a Honda.

I am going to be buying a brand new one. So far it is looking like a Yammi.

I think you will get an overwhelming "Yamaha" response...
The new yam's, honda's and suzuki's are all good.
get the one with the best dealer to back it.
You may want to look at the 8hp models, lighter and available
with all the same options as the 9.9hp.

I've had my T-8 for 4 full seasons and only changed the oils and spark plug. My only beef is people try and start it when its running.[:0](too quiet)

I have had my T-8 for 5 seasons and it has performed flawlessly. It is a rope start and 2 pulls and it runs.:DI service it every fall and it is still running with the original spark plugs. I do carry a spare set of plugs with me on the boat.

I have had both a Honda and Yamaha 9.9. Both were good engines. I would give the edge to Yamaha as parts are usually a bit easier and cheaper to get.

Long live wild salmon!!!
