New from Penn for 1999, is the Pro Sabre
collection of rods that combines both fiberglass and
graphite construction for the perfect combination of
strength, durability and responsiveness. The result
is a faster taper and more lifting power, that can be
applied to all West Coast saltwater applications.
The exciting series of lightweight, yet powerful Pro
Sabre rods includes two spinning and four conventional
models designed to handle live-bait fishing, jigging
and trolling. Made in the U.S.A., Pro Sabre rods feature
a tubular E-glass blank design, with an added layer
of graphite composite reinforcement from the butt to
the midsection of the blank. This innovative "hybrid"
composition provides greater lifting power, while also
allowing for a faster taper, making Penn Pro Sabre rods
perfect for a variety of angling applications, especially
on the West Coast.

Whatever your saltwater application, these rods are built
to last. The Pro Sabre live-bait and jigging models feature
chrome-plated stainless steel ring guides, a carbide tip top,
and a "braced" stripper guide for additional strength
and protection. The specially placed reinforced stripper guide
helps protect Pro Sabres from the rubbing and abrasion that
can occur when anglers leave their rods at the rail. Also
available in this series is a 7 foot rod that features all
AFTCO Lite Roller Guides.
Pro Sabre rods are attractively wrapped in black over black
with a dark blue metallic trim. Each rod features a Fuji graphite
reel seat, and black cushioned foam grips for increased comfort
and control.
