dramatic increase in both quality and quantity of saltwater
angling over the last several years. With favorable weather
conditions, the area offers year round angling opportunities,
while offering vacationers a tremendous amount of other attractions
as well. Set in one of the most beautiful marine areas in
British Columbia, it is often referred to by anglers who know
the area well, as one of the greatest fishing areas on the
coast.
The winter season yields consistently solid returns of resident
Chinook salmon, while the spring and summer offers often great
runs of migratory Coho and Chinook salmon. Gaining in popularity
has been the pursuit of halibut and ground fish within the
region, which has yielded consistent results to both local
and visiting anglers.
The relatively open waters from Port Renfrew southeast to
Otter Point and Secretary Island, just off Sooke have proven
to be exceptional fishing grounds for many years, producing
quality fish in good numbers. The well protected waters surrounding
Victoria to Duncan also offer very good angling opportunities
for many species of salmon, halibut, and ground fish.

charter operators and marinas. The many marinas, campgrounds,
charter operators, hotels and motels available throughout
the area provide access to everyone from the camper to the

of fully-guided service, or venture forth with rented boat
and tackle to challenge the ample fish that frequent these
waters.
