The northern Vancouver Island area, from Port Hardy to Kelsey
Bay, boasts exceptional year round Chinook fishing, including
a strong winter spring (Chinook) fishery. As well this area
contains some of the largest Halibut ever to be caught on
the West Coast, with stories of halibut tipping the scales
at over 600 pounds.
This area is also home to strong seasonal runs of Pink and
Coho salmon providing anglers with a good variety of pursuits.
The area contains plentiful evidence of native heritage, including
totems and longhouses.
Enriching the area is Blackfish Sound and Telegraph Cove,
home the world famous pods of Orcas, frequently sighted against
the spectacular backdrop of the mainland's Coast Mountain
range.
